Tragedy struck just east of downtown San Antonio late yesterday evening, when a pedestrian, a man in his 50s, was fatally injured in a hit-and-run incident, authorities reported. According to the KENS 5 coverage, the San Antonio Police responded to a call at approximately 11:30 p.m. in the 1500 block of East Commerce Street, near South Hackberry Street.
Upon arrival at the scene, the emergency services discovered the victim, who was then pronounced deceased by EMS. The involved vehicle, which police believe to be an SUV, had fled after the collision, failing to render aid to the man, they say.
