Two Hospitalized after San Antonio Crash on SW Military Drive near Yarrow Boulevard

San Antonio, Texas (March 18, 2023) – Two people were hospitalized after a Friday night traffic accident in San Antonio, according to San Antonio police.

The wreck occurred just after 11:00 p.m. Friday, March 16, in the 2700 block of SW Military Drive near Yarrow Boulevard.

Police said a Dodge Challenger was speeding on eastbound Military Drive when the driver lost control and veered into the westbound lanes, where it struck a Honda Civic that was waiting at a red light to turn left onto Yarrow Boulevard.

The Challenger then crashed into the driver’s side of the Civic, pinning the driver inside. The impact pushed the Civic into a Volkswagen that was stopped behind it.

Firefighters responded to the scene and extracted the driver of the Civic, a 27-year-old man. He was then taken to University Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition.

A passenger in the Challenger suffered minor injuries and was taken to Texas Vista Medical Center.

The driver of the Challenger was involved in a hit-and-run crash before this crash. The unidentified driver was arrested and charged with failure to stop and give information and reckless driving.

There are many different reasons why automobile, pedestrian, 18-wheeler, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign, or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality.
