Cold fronts sweeping Texas this weekend threaten storms
Forecasters are also watching a strong burst of cold air over Halloween weekend. A cold front is set to sweep across Texas, dropping temperatures from Dalhart to San Antonio as fall progresses. This comes with a potential for severe weather, with afternoon highs expected to drop by roughly 15 degrees and evening temperatures in the Texas Panhandle expected to sink into the low-40s. However, a low-level risk of flooding is expected as storm clouds roll in and cities in the northwestern quadrant of the Panhandle have a 40% chance of receiving 2 inches of rain or more between Friday and Sunday. In San Antonio, forecasters predict that cooler air will fall into the 50s and 60s across the Western Panhandles, while eastern areas will likely remain closer to the 70s. A stronger cold front could arrive over the Halloween weekend.
