Right-hander Victor Lizarraga (0–2, 5.40 ERA), the Padres’ №7 prospect, allowed two runs on five hits with three strikeouts in four innings with High Single-a Fort Wayne to take the loss. Left-handed starter Jay Groome (1–5, 8.87 ERA) continued his struggles with Triple-A El Paso, while right-hander Efrain Contreras (5.30 ERA) gave up two ruins on 3 hits and a walk with seven strikeouts. Center fielder Korry Howell (.183), thePadres’s � Ö1 prospect, had a double in four at-bats with a RBI and a run scored for San Antonio. Right fielder Tirso Ornelas was 1-for-3 with a run and a RBI for the Missions, while center fielder Rafael Ramona was 2-1-1 with a home run, a double, and a single RBI.

Right-hander Miguel Mendez allowed one run on two hits and two walks with five strikeouts Sunday for Single-A Lake Elsinore.

The 6-foot-2, 20-year-old native of the Dominican Republic, who didn’t sign as an international free agent until he was 18, lowered his earned run average to 1.13.

Right-hander Victor Lizarraga (0–2, 5.40 ERA), the Padres №7 prospect, allowed two runs on five hits with three strikeouts in four innings with High Single-A Fort Wayne to take the loss. Right-hander Efrain Contreras (5.30 ERA) gave up two ruins on 3 hits and a walk with seven strikeouts in four innings with Double-A San Antonio.

Meanwhile, left-handed starter Jay Groome (1–5, 8.87 ERA) continued his struggles with Triple-A El Paso. He gave up five runs on 3 hits and 3 walks with a strikeout in one-third of inning in a losing outing.

Shortstop Jackson Merrill, the Padres’ №1 prospect, was 2-for-4 with Fort Wayne to raise his batting average to .246. Right fielder Joshua Mears (.217), the Padres’ №14 prospect, was 1-for-3 with a RBI for the TinCaps.

Center fielder Samuel Zavala (.258), the Padres’ №4 prospect, was 1-for-4 with a RBI for Lake Elsinore. HIGH SINGLE-A FORT WAYNE (19–26) — Lansing 2, TIN CAPS 1: 3B Marcos Castanon (.268) had a double in 4 at-bats behind Merrill and Mears. 1B Carlos Luis (.235) was 1-for-3 with a walk. SINGLE-A LAKE ELSINORE (23–19) — RANCHO CUCAMONGA 3, Storm 2: RH David Morgan, a converted infielder, followed Mendez and allowed 1 hit with 2 strikeouts in 3 scoreless innings to lower his ERA to 2.35. RH Will Geerdes (2–2, 3.70) gave up 2 runs on 3 hits and a walk with 2 Ks in an IP to take the loss. RF Nick Vogt (.222) had a double in 3 at-bats with a stolen base and a run scored in support of Zavala. 1B Devin Ortiz (.286) was 1-for-3 with a run scored.
