We are now just days from a total solar eclipse.

Its path set to march through San Antonio and nearby Hill Country towns.

There's a definite anticipation in the air no matter where you go as it builds up to a day people have waited years for.

“It's like Fiesta, people first day or two, they're energized and ready to go and I think that's what I'm feeling right now,” Hilton Palacio Del Rio General Manager Robert Thrailkill said.

The path of next week's total solar eclipse will march through West and Central Texas, which includes San Antonio.

Thrailkill said between the eclipse and a nearby convention they're mostly booked.

“I am pretty confident between now and Monday, we'll get most of those sold and we'll have a full house for the eclipse on Monday,” Thrailkill said.

If you're trying to find an AIRBNB a map from Air DNA said it all, which is good luck.

There's just one possible hiccup to all the excitement as clouds are currently in the forecast for San Antonio and nearby cities on Monday.

"Typically here in Kerrville. If it's cloudy in the morning, the clouds typically will break by noon or one o'clock," Kerrville Convention and Visitors Bureau President and CEO Julie Davis said.

$1,600,000,000 is anticipated to be spent in the US. Estimates said $50,000,000 of it will be spent in Bexar County and $3,000,000 in Kerr County.

Davis said they still have around 200 rooms available.

"Hotels are kind of shifting their plans a little and some are changing their minimum night stays. So maybe there's a chance now to get that hotel for one or two nights instead of four," Davis said.

Economist Ray Perryman is predicting the nearly $2,000,000,000 windfall. Here's what he thinks will happen if the forecast is cloudy.

"It will probably have some impact of where it happens. But I think you know, the excitement about it, the plans, the fact that many people have already made their hotel reservations and that sort of thing, I don't think it's going to affect that number significantly," Perryman said.

Something Perryman doesn't anticipate changing is the total amount of money spent, which could mean big things for cities like ours when it comes to funding roads, programs and more.
