New time-lapse video delivers crash course in San Antonio history
An animated video chronicling 308 years of San Antonio history means locals have no excuse for missing trivia questions about their city's past. The 18-minute video by ChronoCity, which posts 3D time-lapses of different metros, covers San Antonio's history from the construction of the first missions to the return of the San Antonio Spurs to the NBA Finals. The video begins with the construction site of the Mission San Antonio de Valero in its original site, when only 70 people were included in the city's population count. It then zooms out between missions as they were erected, followed by the opening of the largest SeaWorld in 1988 and the Alamodome in 1992. The final events included the Spurs returning to the Finals for the first time in over a decade when the city’s population surpassed 1.5 million.
