For families whose children need medical care far from home, a Ronald McDonald House can offer more than a place to sleep. San Antonio Ronald McDonald Houses provide free lodging and everyday comforts for families during children's treatment. The homes, which offer bedrooms, play areas, laundry facilities, and a large kitchen where volunteers can prepare meals. The free lodging can also help families focus on their child's care. The organization's CEO, Travis Pearson, said the financial relief allows families to focus on the child's treatment and return home sooner. San Antonio has three Ronald McDonald houses, each with 21 bedrooms, located in the Medical Center and the third in Christus Children’s Hospital downtown. The McDonald’S funds about 20% of the organization’�s mission; the rest relies on community support.
