San Antonio didn’t dominate until it had to late in the game to put away an opponent missing its two best players. The Spurs won 122-106 against the Mavericks, marking their first win of the season. Despite a poor performance from the Mavericks team, San Antonio managed to pull ahead late in the game. Despite some dominant moments in the second half, the Spurs were not as hungry as expected and lacked urgency. The team's performance was attributed to a lack of hustle plays, poor decision-making, and lazy defense. Despite this, the Mavericks managed to maintain a double-digit lead. The Spurs' focus improved after a timeout from Mitch Johnson, particularly from Victor Wembanyama, who struggled during the game's first half. Despite the loss, the team still has a high ceiling and can reach when necessary, especially when new faces are asked to contribute.
